The language of persuasion

Media makers – including advertisers -- use many different techniques to persuade us to believe or do something.  They use these techniques because they work!

If you learn the language of persuasion, you can use some of the same techniques in your script or storyboard.  (Or you can make fun of how they’re used in tobacco advertising.)

The New Mexico Media Literacy Project, which sponsors the Talk Back to Big Tobacco! Script & Storyboard Contest, helps youth and adults to improve their media literacy skills, including learning the language of persuasion.
